What engines are there to choose from?
Most SUVs that you come across will have a standard four-cylinder engine. The Dodge Durango bypasses that and starts its engine lineup with a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower from a single exhaust and 295 horsepower with a double exhaust. With this engine, you get an excellent response time, as well as the ability to tow up to 6,400 pounds. If you want more power, next up is one of two V8 engines. Standard on the R/T and optional for the Citadel is a 5.7-liter V8 with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Last up is a 6.4-liter V8 with all-wheel-drive and 475 horsepower, which makes the Durango the most powerful in its class. Going with the V8 with four-wheel-drive also gets you a low-range transfer case for outstanding off-roading. All engines connect to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
