Which one will come out on top? For the answer, continue reading down below!
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling
If you are familiar with Jeep vehicles, you know the amount of power they provide. The 2021 Grand Cherokee is no exception as it comes with four wonderful options. Coming standard on most trims is a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out a miraculous 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit trims have the option of a 5.7-liter V8 that delivers 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Looking for a touch more power? The SRT trim has you covered with a performance-oriented 6.4-liter V8 that kicks out a terrific 470 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Toping things off is the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 which pounds the pavement with 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque which comes standard on the Trackhawk. All of these amazing engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive with the option for four-wheel-drive. The SRT and the Trackhawk come standard with a performance-oriented four-wheel-drive system.
2021 Ford Explorer Power & Handling
Only two engines are available for the Ford Explorer, so you will be a tad limited when it comes to power. Most trims will come standard with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 303 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. You can get a little more power when you go with the ST trim as it comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque which are decent for the class. Both engines pair nicely with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive, though you do get the option of all-wheel-drive if you wish. Honestly, there is a lot to like about these power numbers, but we like what the Grand Cherokee offers a little more.
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design
There are a whopping seven trim levels available for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and each one comes with an impressive amount of features. First up is the Laredo trim, which comes with 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Limited adds to this with a sunroof, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, auto-dimming mirrors, heated front seats, a power liftgate, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Looking to take your Grand Cherokee off the road? The Trailhawk is the trim you want to go with as it comes with all-terrain tires, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, underbody skid plates, off-road-tuned air suspension, all-terrain drive modes, and ventilated front seats. Higher trims round things out nicely with xenon headlights, all-leather seating, a power-adjustable steering column, chrome exterior trim, Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned adaptive suspension, and black exterior trim.
2021 Ford Explorer Features & Design
Only five trims are available for the Ford Explorer, so there will be fewer features. The trim lineup leads off with the base, which comes with a power liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Building on this is the XLT which mixes in roof rails, keyless ignition/entry, heated front seats, and second-row USB ports. Luxury items come in via the Limited, which has interior ambient lighting, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker audio system. Meanwhile, the higher trims of the Explorer round things out with paddle shifters, sport front seats, an automated parking system, adaptive headlights, a digital gauge cluster display, and a Class 3 Trailer Tow package.
Conclusion:
While there are merits to both of these SUVs, we will give the victory to the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee! The engine options are more powerful, and the six trim levels are more impressive than the Explorer’s four. Are you ready to take a test drive of the legendary Grand Cherokee?
