The 2022 Grand Wagoneer’s New Design
The Grand Wagoneer bears some similarities to the iconic Jeep design, and even a few subtle hints at the original Wagoneer of the 80s. From the outside, the Grand Wagoneer has a strong road presence with a diamond pattern peeking through the spaces of its seven-slot grille. Wide-set windows offer stunning views and exceptional visibility from every angle, while several shining Wagoneer badges can be seen from all sides. Power side steps automatically slide into place upon opening the doors, and the entrances are lit with ambient LED lighting. Inside, the Grand Wagoneer seats up to 8 passengers, with standard Nappa leather or premium quilted Palermo leather upholstery throughout. The dashboard is also accented with leather, as well as glossy Piano black, and real walnut wood, in honor of the original Wagoneer’s outer wood paneling.
What Technology Can be Found Inside the Grand Wagoneer?
No premium SUV is complete without a fully decked-out dashboard teeming with the latest technology! The Grand Wagoneer features the new Uconnect 5 infotainment system, with faster processing than ever before, including over-the-air updates for navigation. The system connects with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa smartphone apps, and there’s even a second touchscreen available for the passenger’s side to independently control certain functions. The Grand Wagoneer also exclusively offers Amazon Fire for Auto, allowing you to access your Fire TV account from the road using the Home to Car feature. Rear passengers can enjoy their favorite media via Rear Entertainment Displays which affix to the front seat-backs. Notably, the Grand Wagoneer introduces a premium audio system in an industry-first partnership with McIntosh, providing a 23-speaker setup with 3D Surround System technology.
What Powertrain Does the Grand Wagoneer Provide?
All four Grand Wagoneer trim levels receive the same robust powertrain, consisting of a 6.4-liter V-8 engine paired with an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This pairing produces 471 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque, and the whole powertrain has been optimized for low-gear torque and a powerful towing capacity. When outfitted with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, the Grand Wagoneer can tow an impressive 10,000 pounds. 4-wheel drive comes standard, and employs Jeep’s three signature 4X4 systems, Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. The latter two of these also come with the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System, with Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock modes. The available Advanced All-Terrain Group further enhances capability, adding four skid plates to protect against wear and tear.
