2022 Grand Wagoneer vs Lincoln Navigator

If you’re currently in the Noblesville, Indiana area and searching for a premium three-row SUV, there’s no doubt you’ve had a taste of the numerous options available. Searching for a luxury SUV can be tricky because each model claims to be the best of the best. To help determine which option is the best fit for you, we’ll be comparing two models side by side. The first option is the new 2022 Grand Wagoneer. This SUV is a new take on the iconic Grand Wagoneer that left the market in 1991, but the new version delivers premium materials, advanced technology, and more. The second option is the 2021 Lincoln Navigator, which has time and time again been a favorite within the luxury SUV segment. Which SUV best fits your lifestyle? Continue reading below to learn more.

2021 Grand Wagoneer Power & Handling

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer lineup features one robust powertrain for all four of its trim levels. This powertrain includes a potent 5.7-liter V8 engine that’s capable of producing 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Each trim level also comes with four-wheel drive using the Quadra-Drive II transfer case, and they also all have standard Quadra-Lift Air Suspension which provides the Grand Wagoneer with a maximum ground clearance of 10 inches. This ground clearance helps the Grand Wagoneer with its off-road capability, including its ability to water ford in up to 24 inches. With the help of the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package, the Grand Wagoneer has a maximum towing capacity of 9.860 pounds, and its capability only increases with the addition of the Advanced All-Terrain Group.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Power & Handling

In a similar manner to the Grand Wagoneer, the Lincoln Navigator uses just one powertrain configuration for all three of its trim levels, consisting of a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the Grand Wagoneer which uses a TorqueFlite transmission system, the Lincoln Navigator can feel a bit sluggish and unresponsive at times due to the sheer size of the vehicle. Perhaps a V8 engine option would have been welcome here to provide that extra oomph. The Navigator also has an 8,700-pound maximum towing capacity, and available 4-wheel drive for the first two trim levels. The top-tier Black Label trim level receives 4-wheel drive as standard.

2021 Grand Wagoneer Features & Design

The Grand Wagoneer has an elegant design both inside and out, with a seemingly endless number of standard features. It can seat up to eight passengers, with either sliding bucket seats or a bench seat in the second rows. The entire interior has standard Nappa leather upholstery with available quilted Palermo leather. The dashboard features a standard 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with wireless Apple and Android connectivity, and a wireless smartphone charger. There’s also many standard safety features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision mitigation, and active lane management.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Features & Design

As mentioned above, the Lincoln Navigator is large in stature, and also seats up to eight passengers. Some notable features include a Revel Ultima audio system, adaptive LED headlights, ambient LED interior lighting, a 360-degree surround-view camera, massaging front seats, and a head-up display. The safety package falls a bit short of the Grand Wagoneer’s, with adaptive cruise control only standard on the second level up. Also, the base trim level does not have leather upholstery, instead featuring faux leather. The upper two trim levels do have real leather, but only on the first two rows of seating.

Conclusion:

It’s undeniable that both of these SUVs offer a stunning array of features and design themes. However, when we look at the two side by side, the choice is clear. The Grand Wagoneer has many impressive features, as well as the capability and athleticism to back it up! And for anyone traveling with family, the advanced safety features are a must.
