Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Jeep Renegade?
The NHTSA has issued 16 recall records affecting the 2016 Jeep Renegade, covering components such as trailer hitches, the transmission, rear suspension brackets, software vulnerabilities, backup/rearview camera software, brake calipers, fuel pumps, electrical modules, engine oil pump modules, instrument panel software, and air bag ORC calibration. Key risks include trailer hitch separation, unexpected transmission shift to neutral, axle or suspension bracket issues, software access vulnerabilities, lingering rearview images, cracked brake calipers, loss of fuel pressure and engine stalls, and mis-deployed airbags. All manufacturer recall repairs noted by NHTSA are free and should be addressed at a certified dealer as soon as possible.
How do I check if my 2016 Jeep Renegade has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to a dealer and we will verify for free. Bring your VIN into Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or enter it online at NHTSA to confirm recall status and recommended repairs. If you want our team to check and book remediation, schedule service and our factory-trained technicians will confirm and perform any free recall repair.
How much does a 2016 Jeep Renegade recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at an authorized dealer. Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians to perform recall repairs at no cost under the manufacturer program. We also offer service financing if you need other non-recall work at the same time, and current service specials may apply to complementary maintenance.
Can I get my 2016 Jeep Renegade recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory updates, and manufacturer records are properly applied and documented. Independent shops may not have the correct OEM updates, manufacturer calibrations, or access to official recall remedies; for safety and warranty reasons, the certified dealer is the recommended choice. Schedule a free VIN check and recall repair with our certified team at Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram by clicking schedule service.
How long does a 2016 Jeep Renegade recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many software updates and inspections take under an hour, while mechanical fixes (for example trailer hitch fastener installation or transaxle harness replacement) may take several hours. At Kahlo CDJR we aim for fast turnaround and clear timing estimates when you schedule appointment, and we can often complete many recall repairs the same day depending on parts availability. We recommend calling ahead or using the online scheduler so we can prioritize your visit and explain loaner or shuttle options if needed.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Jeep Renegade's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and discourage buyers; many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at an authorized dealer protects resale value and documents that manufacturer safety remedies were completed. Start your trade-in process at our appraisal page (sell your car online) after we clear recalls to maximize value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Jeep Renegade recall?
Some recall issues that affect emissions, lighting, or safety systems could impact inspection results; unresolved safety recalls can also complicate registration in some states. Addressing recalls promptly at a certified dealer avoids inspection delays and protects safety, insurance coverage, and resale prospects. If you have inspection concerns, contact Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Noblesville, IN and we will help schedule any necessary recall work.

Defect

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured September 18, 2014, to June 25, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.

In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on September 30, 2015.
