Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Ram 2500?
The NHTSA records show 22 recalls that affect the 2017 Ram 2500, covering steering, airbags, electrical software, diesel fuel heater connectors, instrument cluster warnings, alternator, headlights, turn signals and engine components. These recalls include front track bar frame bracket weld issues that can reduce steering control, air bag sensor and wiring harness problems that can cause unexpected deployment, software vulnerabilities in Uconnect radios that could allow remote access, and diesel fuel heater connector overheating that risks fuel leaks and fire. Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Noblesville, IN can check your VIN and explain which of the listed NHTSA campaigns apply to your truck and what remedies the manufacturer requires.
How do I check if my 2017 Ram 2500 has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup (nhtsa.gov/recalls) or bring your vehicle to our service department and we will check for free. If you prefer us to verify, call or schedule service online and our factory-trained technicians will run the manufacturer recall lookup and explain next steps at no cost. Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram uses OEM diagnostic tools and will confirm NHTSA recall status and whether a remedy is available for immediate repair.
How much does a 2017 Ram 2500 recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge; the dealer completes the remedy at no cost to the owner under the recall program. At Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Noblesville, our technicians perform all recall repairs using genuine OEM parts and factory procedures so you receive the official remedy documented by the manufacturer. We also offer service financing so you can get service now and pay later for any non-recall work that you elect while the truck is in for recall service.
Can I get my 2017 Ram 2500 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by a franchised dealer or an authorized repair facility using the manufacturer’s specified parts and procedures to ensure the recall remedy is completed correctly. Independent shops may not have the factory software, OEM parts, or the official remedy instructions required by the manufacturer for some campaigns such as software updates to Uconnect radios or air bag module calibrations. For certified, free recall repair near Noblesville and surrounding communities, schedule appointment at Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and we’ll make sure the recall is resolved properly.
How long does a 2017 Ram 2500 recall repair take?
Repair time varies by campaign: software updates and inspections can take under an hour, while bracket welding, alternator replacement, or part replacement can take several hours or require a parts backorder. At Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram our team will give you a clear estimate when you schedule service; if parts are delayed we will notify you and work to arrange the fastest remedy possible. We recommend scheduling as soon as possible because unresolved recalls can present safety hazards and may limit vehicle use or insurance coverage in certain situations.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Ram 2500's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers verify NHTSA recall status before purchase. Getting recall work performed at a certified dealer like Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram documents the remedy on the vehicle history and helps protect resale and trade-in value; you can also start a trade appraisal at our site with the sell your car tool. We strongly recommend resolving recalls prior to sale to avoid reduced offers or buyer hesitation.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Ram 2500 recall?
Some recalls involve safety-critical systems (steering, lights, airbags, engine stall risk) that can lead to inspection failures or safety-related citations if the systems are not operating correctly. Because NHTSA-listed issues such as inoperative warning lamps or faulty headlamp shutter behavior affect compliance with FMVSS standards, it’s possible a vehicle may not pass inspection until the recall remedy is performed. Schedule service at Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to confirm open recalls and get free manufacturer repairs; we also offer service specials at service specials and service financing if additional non-recall work is recommended.
