Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2024 Ram 2500?
The NHTSA records show 22 recalls related to Ram 2500-series issues affecting components such as steering, airbags, electrical systems, diesel engine connectors, instrument cluster lights, alternators, headlights, turn signals and engine covers. Key items from the public NHTSA data include inadequate welds at front track-bar frame brackets (steering), aftermarket Mopar canvas seat covers that can impede thorax airbag deployment (equipment), radios with software vulnerabilities (electrical), overly sensitive side-impact sensor calibrations and wiring harness abrasion that can cause unintended airbag deployment (air bag), and diesel fuel heater connector overheating (diesel engine). At Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we track these NHTSA notices and perform the manufacturer-prescribed repairs free of charge under the recall program.
How do I check if my 2024 Ram 2500 has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your truck to our service department for a free VIN recall check. If you prefer hands-on help, call Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or bring your VIN to our Noblesville service center and we will check the NHTSA database at no charge and advise next steps. To confirm and quickly book repairs, schedule service online or call our team; recall repairs are performed with OEM parts and factory-trained technicians and are free of charge.
How much does a 2024 Ram 2500 recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free to the vehicle owner — Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram performs NHTSA recall remedies at no cost under the factory program. We use OEM parts and factory-trained technicians so the recall remedy preserves vehicle safety and warranty compliance without out-of-pocket cost for eligible recalls. If you need added services beyond the recall repair, ask about our service financing options so you can get required work done now and pay later.
Can I get my 2024 Ram 2500 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed under the manufacturer program; a certified franchise dealer like Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is the recommended and safest choice for recall work. While independent shops can perform general repairs, only a factory dealer can apply official recall remedy parts, access manufacturer repair procedures, and update VIN recall records in the NHTSA/manufacturer system free of charge. Schedule an appointment through our service scheduler to ensure the correct OEM procedure and warranty-record update are completed.
How long does a 2024 Ram 2500 recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many software updates or inspections take under an hour, while structural or part-replacement remedies (e.g., reinforcement brackets, alternator replacement, engine cover swap) can take several hours or a day. Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram provides an estimated repair window when you schedule service and will advise if a loaner or shuttle is available to minimize disruption. Parts availability can affect timing; if parts are delayed we’ll keep you informed and offer service alternatives or appointments when parts arrive.
Does an open recall affect my 2024 Ram 2500's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may negatively affect trade-in or resale value because many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA records before purchase. Having NHTSA recall repairs performed and documented by a factory dealer like Kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram protects resale value and demonstrates the vehicle was maintained with OEM remedies. Visit our trade-in appraisal page to get an updated valuation after recalls are completed: sell your car online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2024 Ram 2500 recall?
Some recalls involve safety systems that could cause a failed inspection if they affect required equipment (for example, inoperative warning lights or headlamp function); unresolved safety recalls can therefore affect inspection outcomes. Because the NHTSA data for Ram 2500 includes issues like inoperative instrument cluster lights and headlamp shutter malfunctions, we recommend resolving applicable recalls before inspection. Schedule a free VIN recall check and any necessary recall repairs by using our schedule service page; recall repairs are free and performed by factory-trained technicians.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.

Consequence

Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.
